Our first Project – C.E.G. Salimde
The local community designated a plot of land for the school building and contributed 25% of the approximately EUR 21,000 (USD 30,000) needed to build the school. This left us with EUR 15,000 to raise, which we did in 10 weeks!
Sokode lies almost exactly in the middle of Togo and, having 100,000 inhabitants, it is Togo’s second-largest town. The community that Education Togo is supporting had no middle school. Education Togo had the full support of the local community. Together with friends of our organization, who live and workin Sokode, Education Togo contributed to a better, healthier and better-educated life in the community. The chief of the local community, the community itself, and a local contractor had full commitment to get this project done within a short timeframe. Once we started the construction, it took us 3 months to complete the project.
